A Pew Research Center survey reveals that 36% of U.S. teens know someone who is transgender, while 28% know someone who is nonbinary. Teens are less likely than adults to know a trans individual but slightly more likely to know someone who identifies as nonbinary.
Gender identity views remain divided: 69% of teens believe gender is determined by sex at birth, mirroring adult perspectives. Comfort with gender-neutral pronouns is evenly split among teens, with notable partisan and community differences.
Older teen girls and younger adults are most likely to know someone who is trans or nonbinary.
