A house fire on Morningstar Trail in Erwin, near Corning Community College, destroyed a home early Thursday morning. Fire crews from Steuben, Chemung, and Tioga counties responded to the blaze, which began around 3 a.m.
The fire consumed the main structure, with flames and heavy smoke visible from the garage, while a separate garage sustained minimal damage.
Crews faced challenges accessing the house due to its long driveway and worked well past 5 a.m. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
