Americans divided on Trump healthcare policies

Nearly half of Americans believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s healthcare cost policies, according to a Gallup-West Health survey. Partisan divides are stark: most Republicans are optimistic, while Democrats and independents remain skeptical.

The survey highlights widespread pessimism about reducing healthcare and drug costs, with 48% of respondents doubtful about future improvements. Majorities also lack confidence in the administration’s prioritization of key healthcare issues, such as Medicare and insulin pricing.

Despite these divides, Americans share concerns about affordability and access. A third fear being unable to afford healthcare, and most support expanded Medicare benefits and mental health coverage. The findings reveal broad agreement on the need for better policies, even amid political polarization.
