New York moves to fire corrections staff after Marcy inmate death

The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision issued disciplinary notices to four additional employees linked to the death of inmate Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility.

This brings the total to 18 staff involved, with 17 suspended without pay and one resigning prior to action.


Governor Kathy Hochul directed DOCCS Commissioner Daniel Martuscello to initiate terminations for those implicated.

The staff includes corrections officers, sergeants, and medical personnel, highlighting the scope of the case.
