Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled transformative healthcare investments across New York, including up to $188 million for Jamaica Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering to establish a cancer care center in Queens. The Healthcare Safety Net Transformation Program supports partnerships like St. Barnabas Hospital’s emergency department upgrade and alliances with health organizations to improve care for underserved populations.
Other projects include modernizing Glens Falls Hospital’s emergency department, upgrading Montefiore New Rochelle’s maternity unit, and enhancing behavioral health services at UVM Champlain Valley. Rural hospitals and pharmacies also benefit through expanded partnerships. The program aims to stabilize safety-net hospitals while improving care accessibility.
With additional funding proposed for FY26, Governor Hochul emphasizes equity and resilience in healthcare, addressing critical needs for vulnerable communities statewide.
