Macy’s announced the closure of 66 stores in early 2025, including its location at the Mall at Greece Ridge in Rochester. The Eastview Mall store will remain open as part of the company’s “Bold New Chapter” strategy to focus on profitable locations.
This initiative aims to shutter 150 underperforming stores nationwide over three years, reallocating resources to improve thriving outlets. The closures include sites in New York, California, and Texas, among others. CEO Tony Spring emphasized prioritizing customer experience in “go-forward” stores.
The move reflects a broader trend, as major retailers like Kohl’s and Red Lobster have also closed locations amid shifting consumer habits and financial pressures.
