Auburn man gets longer prison sentence after resisting arrest incident

Prosecutors say an Auburn man is headed to prison for drug charges after secondary incident.

Daniel P. Palmieri, 38, of Auburn, was sentenced to three years in state prison for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. His sentence includes a 90-day addiction treatment program, after which he will serve parole.

Palmieri initially faced six months in county jail and probation, but additional charges, including possession and resisting arrest, led to a harsher sentence. Authorities say he was caught with 8 grams of cocaine intended for sale, highlighting his struggle with substance abuse.
