Ex-adviser: Trump’s Jan. 6 pardons will be case-by-case

Former Trump campaign adviser David Urban clarified that President-elect Donald Trump did not promise blanket pardons for all Jan. 6 rioters but instead pledged to review cases individually. Urban argued some demonstrators were wrongfully arrested and highlighted Ashli Babbitt’s death as an example of injustice.

While Urban downplayed broader violence, panelists pushed back, emphasizing the assaults on 140 police officers and the gravity of the attack. Trump’s proposed pardons have drawn outrage from former Capitol Police officers and lawmakers, who view them as a betrayal.

Despite Democratic opposition, Republican control of Congress suggests Trump may face little resistance in carrying out his pledge to pardon select Jan. 6 defendants.
