As severe weather events become increasingly frequent and intense, New Yorkers are being encouraged to take proactive steps to prepare for emergencies. Governor Kathy Hochul, in partnership with the New York National Guard and the Seneca County Office of Emergency Management, announced a Citizen Preparedness Training Program class scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Seneca Falls Community Center, located at 35 Water Street, Seneca Falls, NY.
The free training session aims to equip residents with essential tools and knowledge to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural or man-made disasters. Participants will learn how to develop a family emergency plan, stock essential supplies, and take appropriate actions during crises.
Each family attending the training will receive an emergency preparedness kit to help them begin assembling essential supplies.
The program is part of a broader initiative to strengthen community resilience across New York State in the face of extreme weather and unexpected disasters.
Registration is required to attend the event. Interested participants can sign up by visiting www.prepare.ny.gov or scanning the QR code provided in promotional materials.
New Yorkers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to better prepare for the unexpected and contribute to a safer, more resilient community.
