‘Chemical fog’ sparks conspiracy theories across the US

A mysterious fog described as having a “chemical smell” and causing flu-like symptoms has spread across parts of the US, fueling conspiracy theories about bioweapons and drone activity.

Reports from residents in Florida and Kansas claim the fog caused sneezing, fever, and eye irritation, with some comparing it to historical biological experiments like Operation Sea-Spray. Social media users shared footage of particles illuminated by flashlights, further intensifying speculation.

Experts, however, explain the phenomenon as natural fog, which can trap pollutants and odors close to the ground, sometimes causing respiratory issues. The seasonal weather pattern, common in fall and winter, remains the most likely explanation.
