A 38-year-old Irondequoit man was arrested after attempting to drive away in a stolen vehicle on Dewey Avenue while a Rochester police officer was partially inside.
The officer, spotting the stolen vehicle, approached as the suspect jumped into the driver’s seat. Despite the officer’s attempt to stop him, the man drove about 75 feet before the vehicle was stopped. No injuries were reported.
The driver faces multiple charges, including assault on a police officer and reckless endangerment. A 32-year-old female passenger was also charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and had outstanding warrants.
