New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced the second round of grant programs aimed at supporting socially and economically disadvantaged farmers and beginning farmers. The programs, funded through the state budget, aim to break barriers to entry in agriculture and promote inclusivity.
Grants ranging from $5,000 to $250,000 will be awarded competitively to help farmers start, expand, or improve operations, train workers, or acquire land and equipment. Socially disadvantaged farmers include individuals facing racial or economic barriers, while beginning farmers are those with under 10 years of experience.
Eligible entities must submit proposals by January 24, 2025. Details are available at agriculture.ny.gov.
