Auburn police report busy November with focus on crime prevention and training

The Auburn Police Department has released its activity report for November 2024, revealing a month marked by significant police activity, ongoing investigations, and a focus on officer training and traffic enforcement.

Officers responded to 2,057 calls for service in November, bringing the year-to-date total to 26,592. The department made 45 adult arrests and investigated 43 juvenile complaints. Warrants were executed 13 times during the month, contributing to a year-to-date total of 302.

Serious crimes remained a focus, with 30 assault investigations, 67 domestic violence cases, and 33 burglary investigations. The department also reported 23 drug-related investigations and 20 incidents involving mental health crises. Fraud investigations reached a cumulative total of 141 for the year.

Traffic safety remained a priority, with officers making 255 traffic stops and issuing 93 tickets. Parking enforcement was also active, with 375 tickets issued in November. Additionally, six motor vehicle accidents resulting in personal injuries and several more causing property damage were investigated.


The Detective Bureau managed 27 new cases in November and closed 17. Detectives executed six search warrants, made one felony arrest, and handled one juvenile case petitioned to family court. The bureau concluded the month with 170 open cases. Meanwhile, the Identification Bureau processed 112 pieces of evidence and maintained oversight of 155 registered sex offenders residing in Auburn.

Training played a significant role in November’s operations. The Training and Planning Division coordinated 736 hours of instruction, covering Patrol Rifle certification, Hostage Negotiation, RADAR/LIDAR training, and mandatory Bloodborne Pathogens courses. Two recruits, Officers Schattinger and Danczak, graduated from the Syracuse Regional Police Academy and have now entered an 18-week field training program.

School Resource Officers (SRO) and Special Patrol Officers (SPO) responded to 52 school-related incidents, including cases of bullying, fighting, and property checks.

Under the Police Traffic Services Grant, the department conducted four enforcement details, issuing 30 traffic tickets—21 for aggressive driving and six for speeding.
