The Auburn City Council approved the sale of a vacant property to Housing Visions, a Syracuse nonprofit, for $1, The Citizen reports. The site at 197 State St., formerly the Polish Home, will be transformed into a $6 million affordable housing project.

Initially planned for 16 units, the project now involves demolishing the inefficient building to construct 26 one-bedroom apartments. Twelve units will provide supportive housing for chronically homeless individuals, while the remaining 14 will be income-based rentals.

The closing date is set for April 2026 to allow time for funding and approvals.
