Friday night delivered nonstop excitement in Wayne Finger-Lakes high school basketball, with 19 games on the schedule, many of which came down to the wire, including two thrilling buzzer-beaters.
The Palmyra-Macedon and Midlakes boys’ teams each secured home wins on last-second layups, while the Wayne boys edged Mynderse on the road in a tight contest, highlighted by Cam Blankenberg’s strong performance in his season debut after recovering from a sprained ankle. On the girls’ side, Mynderse opened their season with a tough road win over Wayne.

With 14 seconds remaining, Andrew Green hit a clutch three-pointer to tie the game for the Panthers. On the ensuing possession, Logan Bauer of the Red Raiders missed a mid-range jumper with three seconds left. However, Ryan Caffyn grabbed the rebound under the basket and put it off the glass for the game-winning layup as the buzzer sounded.
