Newark Police Arrest Man in Domestic Dispute, Order of Protection Violated

A Newark man is facing charges after allegedly violating a court-ordered protection order during a domestic dispute at his residence.

Michael A. Lawrence, 56, was arrested on December 1 following an incident at his home. Newark Police responded to a call reporting a family trouble in progress. Upon arrival, officers determined that Lawrence had allegedly shoved his wife, violating an existing order of protection against him.

Lawrence was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment. He was processed at Newark Police Department before being transported to Wayne County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Processing (CAP).

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
