DEC Seeks Public Input on Macedon Sewer Plant Permit Renewal

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced an administrative renewal for the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for the Macedon Sewer Treatment Plant. Public comments on the proposal are being accepted through December 13.

The facility, located at 135 Main Street in the Town of Macedon, processes sanitary wastewater with a flow rate of 0.75 million gallons per day. Discharge from the plant flows into the Barge Canal and Ganargua Creek, both classified as Class C waterbodies suitable for fishing and other recreational uses.

DEC encourages residents and stakeholders to submit written feedback regarding the permit renewal. All comments should reference SPDES number NY0023612 and DEC number 8-5430-00008/00003.
