Canandaigua man faces multiple charges after a shoplifting incident escalated into property damage at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Eastview Mall, authorities said.
Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Abdiel Velezsotomayor, 46, on Saturday at approximately 1:43 p.m. Deputies allege that Velezsotomayor attempted to steal $161.99 worth of merchandise and caused $198 in damage to other items.
During the investigation, deputies discovered Velezsotomayor was also in possession of burglary tools. He has been charged with petit larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.
Velezsotomayor was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
No further details were released by the Sheriff’s Office.
