A pedestrian sustained minor injuries Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of North Avenue and Main Street, according to Penn Yan Police.
The incident occurred at 6:28 a.m. when a westbound vehicle operated by Emma M. Scharping, 53, of Sheppard Street in Penn Yan, hit a pedestrian using the crosswalk. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Penn Yan Ambulance for an elbow injury and was released shortly after.
Police cited Scharping for failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk and for operating a vehicle without a valid license. She is scheduled to answer the charges in Penn Yan Village Court on a later date.
