Finger Lakes chefs unite for Hurricane relief benefit

A group of Finger Lakes chefs is hosting a culinary fundraiser this Friday at Bright Leaf Vineyard to aid North Carolina chefs affected by Hurricane Helene. The event will feature a diverse menu of tasting dishes, including hummus, pumpkin habanero pork belly, and ricotta olive oil cake, crafted by local chefs such as Samantha Buyskes and Leslie Vincent.

The benefit includes a silent auction with items from local businesses like Schraders Meats and Lively Run. Organizer Samantha Buyskes emphasized the need to support chefs Michelle Bailey and Suzy Salwa Phillips, who lost their restaurants, and Susi Gott Seguret, whose community is struggling.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite for the event, running from 6–8 p.m. on November 15 at Bright Leaf Vineyard. “Let’s show we rise together,” says Chef Sam.
