Three Section V boys soccer teams reached the New York State semifinals, including Naples, but unfortunately, their season came to an end on Friday afternoon at Middletown High School.
The Big Green Machines (19-2-0) battled back from a two-goal deficit, but still fell 3-2 to Section III’s Hamilton (18-3-1) in double overtime.
Jake Betrus put Naples on the board with 28 minutes remaining in regulation, and just minutes later, Matt Lincoln netted the tying goal.
The Big Green Machines have not won a state title since 1999.
Hamilton will face Section II’s Northville in the Class D NYS Final on Saturday.
