The Town of Sodus is set to celebrate the holiday season with its annual Winter Festival on Saturday, December 14. The day’s festivities will feature a Christmas parade, a home decorating contest, art displays from local students, and a chance for kids to win exciting prizes. The celebration will culminate with a community fireworks display on Sunday, December 15.
The Christmas Parade, a highlight of the festival, will kick off at 5 p.m. on December 14, with the lineup beginning at 4 p.m. at Sodus High School. Entries are encouraged to showcase their holiday spirit, with a prize awarded for the “Most Festive” entry. However, organizers request no Santa or Mrs. Claus-themed entries, and street vendors will not be permitted. Parade participants can register by emailing [email protected].
Alongside the parade, Sodus residents are invited to participate in the Holly Jolly Home Decorating Competition. The registration deadline for the contest is December 6, and participants should submit a photo of their decorated home along with the address to the town clerk. The home with the best decorations will be awarded first place, adding extra holiday spirit to the Sodus community.
In addition to the parade and home decor contest, students from Sodus Central School will showcase their artistic talent. Their holiday-themed artwork will be displayed in local business windows starting December 3, with prizes awarded for the best pieces.
For younger community members, there’s a chance to win a raffle basket or a $100 starter certificate from Reliant Credit Union. Kids ages 0-18 can register by filling out a form at the Sodus Town Clerk’s Office or emailing [email protected] by December 2. Winners from all competitions will be announced on December 14.
On Sunday, December 15, the festivities will conclude with a community fireworks show hosted by the Wallington Fire Department. The Fire Hall will open at 5 p.m., with fireworks beginning at 6 p.m., promising a spectacular finale to a weekend of holiday celebration.
Sodus residents and visitors are invited to join in this festive celebration and support the holiday spirit in the community.
