A Waterloo man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to steal multiple items from a Walmart in Seneca Falls, according to local police.
John S. Smith, 44, was taken into custody around 3 p.m. after he was observed removing merchandise from the Walmart on North Road. Police say Smith collected various items, removed them from their packaging, and damaged some of the property before passing all points of sale without attempting to pay.
Smith was charged with one count of petit larceny and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the Rochester Police Department, where he faces an outstanding warrant on separate charges.
