Seneca County residents have until Nov. 15 to provide input on the county’s draft Solid Waste Management Plan, which outlines waste strategies for 2024-2033. Prepared by the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council, the 65-page plan suggests continuing the use of Seneca Meadows Landfill for household waste while boosting waste diversion from 11% to 17% through enhanced recycling and composting.
The draft plan is accessible on the county website and at the Planning and Community Development Department in Waterloo. Written comments may be submitted to Planning Director Jill Henry at 1 DiPronio Drive or by email at SCLS-WMP@co.seneca.ny.us. A public hearing will be held Nov. 12 during the Board of Supervisors meeting at 6 p.m.
Following the comment period, the Board will finalize the plan for state approval.
