Palmyra man charged with DWI after rollover crash

A rollover crash in Palmyra led to the arrest of a local man for driving while intoxicated, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported. Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on North Creek Road on November 4, where they found Lawrence Wedgwood, 60, and a passenger trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

The investigation revealed that Wedgwood was attempting to turn into a driveway when he lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and flip. Both Wedgwood and his passenger were unharmed but required assistance from the Palmyra Town Fire Department for extraction.

Deputies determined that Wedgwood had been driving under the influence of alcohol and charged him with driving while intoxicated and unsafely moving from his lane. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Palmyra Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Palmyra Town Fire Department for their assistance at the scene.
