A Rochester man faces charges after allegedly altering and cashing a check from the Wayne County Department of Social Services, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Brett T. Forgione, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree forgery and petit larceny. Investigators allege that Forgione altered a representative payee check, originally issued by the county’s social services department, and then cashed it for $208.
Forgione was arraigned in Wayne County CAP Court early on Tuesday morning and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Lyons Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
Detective Hares led the investigation, which remains ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
