The Niles Town Board held its regular meeting earlier this month, approving key resolutions and addressing concerns from local departments. The board approved October’s abstract of bills, including $8,571.25 from the general fund, $14,988.52 from the highway fund, and $26,099.03 from the municipal waste fund.
Highway Superintendent Roger Slater reported on ongoing maintenance efforts, including tree cutting and equipment needs. He informed the board about the worn condition of the highway department’s excavator bucket and shared updates on potential replacements. Slater also discussed the need for a new plow and sander for the department and mentioned that state initiatives are pushing for municipalities to switch to electric trucks.
The board scheduled a public hearing for the 2025 budget, set for Nov. 14, and approved various department reports, including those from the code enforcement officer, dog control officer, assessor, and town historian.
