Families looking for a fun and unique way to celebrate Halloween are invited to board the Finger Lakes Railway for a festive train ride on Saturday, Oct. 26. The 2½-hour round trip, hosted by the Central New York Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS), will travel from Sennett to the historic Martisco Station Museum, offering a blend of fall scenery and railway history.
Two departures are available—one at 10 a.m. and another at 1 p.m.—from the former Hendricks Oil location at 369 Grant Avenue Road, where there is ample free parking. Passengers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to boarding.
During the journey, families will enjoy a one-hour stop at the Martisco Station Museum, giving riders the chance to explore a piece of New York’s railroad history. The museum, housed in a station originally built by the New York Central Railroad, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past.
To add to the Halloween fun, all children dressed in costumes will receive a free trick-or-treat bag, with the event emphasizing family-friendly costumes (no gore, please). The train ride provides a festive atmosphere for kids and adults alike, perfect for a seasonal outing that’s both educational and entertaining.
Tickets are priced at $35 for adults and $25 for children ages 3 to 13. Children aged 2 and under can ride for free if seated on a parent’s lap. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Central New York Chapter NRHS, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the region’s rich railway history.
