An Auburn police officer suffered a broken leg Thursday night while pursuing a suspect at the Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes.
Authorities say the officer was chasing Lawrence A. Atkins, 47, when his leg struck a metal doorframe, fracturing two bones.
Atkins, who was wanted for violating a protection order and had an outstanding warrant, was later apprehended.
He faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
The officer involved is recovering after undergoing surgery.
