Town of Seneca to hold public hearings on zoning and comprehensive plan; budget and snow removal contract also on agenda

The Town of Seneca will hold a public hearing on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., to discuss proposed Local Laws 4 and 5 of 2024, which focus on updates to the town’s zoning law and zoning map. The hearing will be immediately followed by another public hearing regarding the town’s Comprehensive Plan.

Following the hearings, the Town Board will convene its regular monthly meeting to address various agenda items, including a motion to set the date for a budget workshop and to accept the Town Court report. The meeting will also feature updates from multiple departments, including reports from the highway, water, and code enforcement offices.

Significant resolutions to be voted on include the 2024-2025 snow removal contract with Ontario County, which proposes a reimbursement rate of $6,800 per mile for snow and ice control services, covering a total of 14.13 miles. The board will also set a public hearing for the 2025 preliminary budget, scheduled for October 15, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.

Other key resolutions include the reappointment of Jim Perry to the Board of Assessment Review, the court’s authorization to apply for a JCAP grant of up to $30,000, and the authorization for the highway department to utilize reserve funds for the Kidder Road Bridge Culvert replacement.

Residents are encouraged to participate, with two opportunities for public comment during the privilege of the floor sessions before and after the main proceedings.
