Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving a couple on Franklin Street in the Village of Penn Yan. Michael Personale and Ashley Manaco were found dead in their home, with Personale suffering multiple gunshot wounds and Manaco dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The tragic incident took place just one year after a similar situation occurred next door.
Neighbor Stacey Nesbit expressed shock, noting that such events are rare in the community. Last year, 89-year-old Ronald Salyer, who lived next door, was accused of killing his wife, Jane Salyer, in a separate incident.
Penn Yan Police Chief Thomas Dunham confirmed that there is no record of domestic abuse involving the couple. Investigators found five shell casings at the scene, indicating the revolver was reloaded during the incident. Police continue to investigate and are providing support to those affected.
