Two students were checked for minor injuries at Cayuga Medical Center after a car attempting an unexpected U-turn collided with a South Seneca Central School District bus on Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred on Route 96 around 3 p.m. as the bus was returning from Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES.
Emergency personnel medically cleared the bus driver and two dozen passengers at the scene. The two students were sent for further evaluation after bumping their heads, while the remaining students were transported home on an alternate bus.
The school district reminded drivers to stay alert and cautious as the new school year begins.
