F.F. Thompson Hospital has announced KyShara Penns as the new director of Obstetrical Nursing, overseeing the hospital’s Birthing Center. Part of UR Medicine Thompson Health, the center holds Perinatal Advanced Certification from The Joint Commission and is recognized as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. In 2023, the center delivered nearly 750 babies.
Penns, a nursing graduate of Monroe Community College and Roberts Wesleyan University, is currently pursuing a Master of Science in healthcare leadership at the University of Rochester. She brings years of experience from Golisano Children’s Hospital and Highland Hospital.
