One person is in custody after a high-speed chase ended in the town of Benton through part of Yates County.
Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jade S. Smith, 26, of Bluff Point, early Friday morning after a high-speed chase on State Route 14a in the Town of Benton.
The pursuit began when deputies observed Smith driving at a high rate of speed, leading to a chase that reached speeds over double the posted limit. The chase ended on Ferguson Corners Road, where Smith was taken into custody.
Smith faces multiple charges, including unlawful fleeing, reckless driving, and various traffic violations. She was processed at the Yates County Public Safety building and released on appearance tickets.
The incident involved several deputies, including Sgt. Chisom, Dep. Schenck, Dep. Garren, and Dep. Lane. Smith is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
