New Online Tool Helps Homeowners Track STAR Rebate Checks

Homeowners enrolled in New York’s STAR program can now track their rebate checks using a new online tool. The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will soon distribute checks ahead of the school tax bill deadlines, with most due by the end of September.

The STAR program, which began in 1997, offers tax relief to homeowners, with rebates increasing up to 2% annually. A direct deposit option is also available. The new tracking tool requires users to input their county and school district to monitor the check distribution process.

Homeowners turning 65 in 2025 may qualify for the enhanced STAR program, which now has an increased income limit of $107,300. Current recipients will be automatically upgraded.
