The U.S. Women’s Eight rowing team secured a spot in Saturday’s Olympic finals, finishing first in the repechage round. The crew, featuring Olivia Coffey from Burdett in seat 7, clocked in at 6:03.93, edging out Canada.
Coffey, a Tokyo Games veteran and Rio alternate, joins a lineup that includes Ithaca College alumna Meghan Musnicki. Other team members are Molly Bruggeman, Margaret Hedeman, Maddie Wanamaker, Claire Collins, Regina Salmons, Charlotte Buck, and coxswain Nina Castagna.
The finals, also featuring Romania, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and Italy, will air at 4:50 a.m. EST on Peacock TV.
