Need low cost child care? Hochul says new portal will deliver it

Governor Kathy Hochul, alongside U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, announced a new digital portal to help families access free or low-cost child care across New York State. The initiative is part of a $1.8 billion investment in the state’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).

The portal, available at ny.gov/childcare, allows families to easily check eligibility and apply for assistance online. Most eligible families of four will pay no more than $15 per week for child care. Currently, CCAP serves about 100,000 families, but hundreds of thousands more may be eligible.

“We’re making child care more affordable and accessible,” said Governor Hochul. “As New York’s first mom governor, I understand the challenges firsthand and am committed to helping more families across our state.”
