A long-standing tradition in Palmyra, Canaltown Days, is ending after 55 years due to rising costs and vendor issues. The Board of Directors announced the decision on Friday at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.
Replacing the beloved event is a new celebration called “Harvest on the Canal,” featuring a 5k race, car show, and live music. Pamela Ferranti, President of the Union Agricultural Society of Palmyra, highlighted the benefits of moving the event to the fairgrounds, including better accessibility and lower vendor fees.
“Harvest on the Canal” will take place from September 13-15 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. A meeting for potential committee members will be held on July 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Floral Hall.
