Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after losing control of his boat off the coast of Nantucket on Monday.
Portnoy, 47, explained in a TikTok video that heavy winds caused him to drift out to sea after unhooking from buoys, and his boat’s engine died. A nearby boater saw his distress and alerted the Coast Guard, who towed him back to safety.
Grateful for the rescue, Portnoy joked about his misadventure, saying, “Captain Dave lives to tell another tale.” He also thanked the Coast Guard on social media, where they responded with a message for his pit bull, Miss Peaches. Portnoy founded Barstool Sports in 2003, and the website has over 16 million Instagram followers.
