Governor Kathy Hochul announced that New York State has issued 109 new adult-use cannabis licenses, bringing the total for 2024 to 730. This move aims to boost the legal cannabis market and includes licenses for cultivators, processors, distributors, and retailers.

Additionally, state enforcement agencies have seized nearly $30 million worth of illegal cannabis and closed 164 unlicensed stores. These actions support the growth of the legal market and ensure safer products for consumers.

The Cannabis Control Board also approved changes to packaging and advertising regulations to support responsible growth and protect public health, reflecting New York’s commitment to a thriving and safe cannabis industry.
