Governor Kathy Hochul and President Joe Biden have hit their lowest favorability ratings among New York voters, according to a new Siena College poll released Thursday. Hochul’s favorability stands at 38-49%, and her job approval is 44-50%. Despite these low ratings, 40% of voters believe she demonstrates honesty and integrity, but 44% feel she lacks decisive leadership.
President Biden’s favorability dropped to 42-53%, and his job approval fell to 45-53%, marking his lowest ratings ever in New York. The poll shows Biden leading former President Donald Trump by 8 points in New York, although Trump has strong support among Republicans and independents.
The poll also highlights strong bipartisan support for recent legislative actions. A significant majority of voters, 70-12%, approve of the state’s new law requiring parental consent for addictive social media feeds for minors. Additionally, voters favor the Plastics Reduction Act and the NY Heat Act, though they were not passed in the recent legislative session.
