J.D. Martinez homers twice as Mets win fourth straight

J.D. Martinez homered twice as the New York Mets (32-37) rolled past the San Diego Padres (37-37), 5-1, on Saturday afternoon to extend their win streak to four games.

Martinez smacked a two-run home run in the third to extend the lead to 3-0 and launched a solo shot in the seventh to make it a 4-1 game, raising his season total to eight.

Brandon Nimmo had a run-scoring double and an RBI single.

Jose Quintana tossed six innings of one-run ball and improved to 2-5 on the season.
