Livingston County official receives important certification

Megan Sokolow, the Records Management Supervisor for Livingston County, has recently attained the Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification from the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM), marking a major professional milestone. This certification is highly regarded in the records management field and involves a demanding series of six exams, including a challenging six-hour written test.

Sokolow described the certification process as one of her most difficult professional challenges but expressed pride in the added value it brings to Livingston County and its residents. Through her rigorous preparation, she has enhanced her skills in effective records management, ensuring the county’s adherence to modern best practices across various business sectors.

With this certification, Sokolow will continue to oversee the management of all county records, from creation to disposal or archival preservation, with some records dating back to the early 1800s. Her achievement allows her department to access the latest industry developments and participate in important discussions that shape records and information management’s future. Sokolow is committed to further professional development to keep serving the county’s needs effectively.
