Latest details in Ontario County murder-for-hire plot: How many people were involved?

  • Staff Report

A convicted rapist, his girlfriend, and a teenage girl were arrested in New York for plotting to assassinate the judge and prosecutors who handled his trial. Alexander Kise, 21, and Alydia Gater, 22, faced felony charges including attempted murder and conspiracy, after authorities uncovered their plan during Kise’s trial for rape earlier this year in Ontario County Court. A 16-year-old girl was also charged with similar counts but her identity remains protected under state law.

During a press conference at the state police Troop E headquarters in Farmington, it was revealed that Gater attempted to hire a hitman, unknowingly interacting with an undercover officer. She allegedly exchanged nearly $1,800 in Xanax pills as payment for the planned assassinations of Judge Brian Dennis and assistant district attorneys Kelly Wolford and Victoria Porter.

The announcement, made by District Attorney Jim Ritts, underscored the severity of the plot, describing it as an attack on the justice system’s integrity. Ritts emphasized the plot’s impact on legal professionals, highlighting the inexcusable nature of the offense.
