Livingston County contractor indicted on grand larceny charges

Douglas Shanley, a 46-year-old contractor from Livingston County, faced new grand larceny charges after a history of similar accusations. Shanley appeared in court last Thursday, indicted by a grand jury for allegedly defrauding a client in a home renovation project on Rochester Street in Avon. The client reportedly paid over $50,000 for work that was never completed, leading to charges of third- and fourth-degree grand larceny.

Prosecutors highlighted that Shanley, operating under N&S Home Solutions LLC, failed to fulfill a contract for a large-scale renovation and roof expansion in 2022. This incident echoed Shanley’s previous legal troubles where he was accused of accepting payments for unfinished jobs from 2013 to 2016.

Assistant District Attorney Josh Tonra, addressing the court, emphasized the severe impact on the victim whose home remains in disrepair and urged others who might have been defrauded by Shanley to come forward.
