New York (6-7) collected 14 hits, with everyone in the starting lineup contributing. Brett Baty stayed red-hot, recording two hits, including a two-run double that broke the game open. Jeff McNeil tallied three hits and an RBI. Pete Alonso crushed his fourth home run of the season, while Brandon Nimmo and DJ Stweart drove in runs with hits.
Luis Severino tossed five innings of one-run ball before Jake Diekman, Reed Garrett, Adam Ottavino, and Jorge López combined for four shutout frames.
The Mets will try to secure an early series win on Saturday at 1:40 p.m. with Sean Manaea on the mound.
