The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Manchester man following an identity theft investigation.

According to a news release, Robert Mendez, 46, was arrested over the weekend after opening an RG&E account with the victim’s name without their knowledge.

Authorities say he maintained that account for over a year before his arrest.

He was released on an appearance ticket after being formally charged with second-degree identity theft.
