Lansing man with two prior DWI arrests involved in crash: Felony charges follow

Early on March 4 deputies were called to a motor vehicle accident in the town of Lansing, where a Toyota Camry, driven by Darin J. Fergus, 36, of Lansing had veered off Ridge Road. The car crossed into the opposing lane before ending up in a ditch, prompting law enforcement to respond to the scene around 12:22 a.m.

Investigations revealed that Fergus was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. This led to his arrest for DWAI drugs, a felony charge. Deputies said Fergus had two prior DWI or DWAI offenses, with one occurring within the last ten years.

Following the arrest, Fergus was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for a blood test. He was then released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lansing Court.
