A longtime judge says he felt obligated to act after hearing troubling complaints about a colleague, according to RochesterFirst, citing concerns about courtroom behavior and public trust. Former Justice Craig Doran said he referred the issue to a state commission as part of his ethical duty.
Doran said the allegations signaled a decline in conduct and risked undermining confidence in the courts. He stressed that judges must protect the integrity of the system, especially as public trust faces scrutiny.
He also pointed to the investigation process as proof the system works, saying the case received a thorough and fair review focused on accountability.
