There’s been an update on a highly-anticipated development in the city of Geneva. Developer Mark McGroarty told the Finger Lakes Times that the Trinity Inn project, aimed at transforming the historic Trinity Episcopal Church in Geneva into a boutique hotel, events center, and restaurant remains on track.
Despite setbacks that shifted the anticipated completion from early 2024 to 2025, the project, benefiting from a $3.6 million tax incentive package from the Geneva Industrial Development Agency. Rising financing rates and construction costs posed challenges, but McGroarty cited improving conditions and a stabilizing market as reasons for optimism.
The Trinity Inn project, which McGroarty has been developing for eight years, faced opposition from local residents concerned about the impact on the neighborhood’s character. However, with construction costs and interest rates stabilizing, and an increase in average hotel room rates, the developer anticipates beginning work in early 2025. The revised timeline aims to have the establishment operational by the spring of 2026 to capitalize on the tourist season.
